Portrait of Attorney Dan at Dingeman & Dancer, PLC

Daniel J. Dingeman is a native of Traverse City who brings the added benefit of significant local contacts and perspectives that generations of local knowledge and relationships can only acquire. In 1990, he started the law firm that became Dingeman & Dancer, PLC.

Mr. Dingeman is a transactional attorney practicing in the areas of land use, development, financing and zoning matters, cottage and vacation home succession planning and implementation, business matters, health care, estate planning, Trust and Probate Administration and Litigation, wealth transfer planning, divorce and separation matters involving high-net-worth individuals, and cannabis businesses. In addition, Mr. Dingeman has represented ambulatory surgery centers, physician-hospital organizations, physicians, physician practices, practice purchase and sales matters, technology and employment agreements, healthcare organizations, and physician organizations.

For decades, Mr. Dingeman provided general legal counsel to a business that has become the community’s largest privately owned employer, assisting in corporate structure, expansion, national/international business operations, and new business opportunity assessment. In addition, he oversaw all aspects of the business’s 100,000-square-foot-plus downtown “campus” expansion, including successfully navigating through politically polarizing anti-growth/pro-growth debates, obtaining tax increment financing, brownfield remediation, Community Development Block Grants, and Michigan Economic Growth Authority tax credits by working with all levels of government from local city commissions to the governor’s office.

Mr. Dingeman has provided legal counsel to some of the most significant developments in Northern Michigan. He represents numerous individuals and businesses in developing, selling, and exchanging real and personal property. He also has extensive experience in tax-deferred exchanges, commercial real estate finance, collateralization, challenges of tax assessments, property tax appeals, zoning matters, and site condominium development.

Mr. Dingeman has represented many commercial bank trust departments and individual clients in a wide range of complex estate litigation and planning matters, including estate and wealth transfer planning for traditional as well as non-traditional families and second marriages; planning for high-net-worth individuals, including pre-nuptial agreements, complex divorces, and domestic partnership terminations; planning for disabled and special needs individuals; trust administration; will and trust contests; and fiduciary representation.

Mr. Dingeman has also been an active real estate developer of residential subdivisions, condominiums, hotels, restaurants, single-tenant retail centers, shopping centers, and office buildings in Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio, and Florida.
